Hartebeespoort Dam & Resort (Harties)

The near 20 Square km Arch Dam was built in 1923 for irrigation purposes but has become a major water sports resort with various accommodation & resort spaces.

The dam area is a renown recreational space for Johannesburg, Pretoria & other Northern Gauteng Towns.

Places of interest in Harties surrounds are:

Cheese Farms, De Wildt Cheetah Rescue & Rehabilitation centre, Harties Cable Car, Chameleon & Welwitchia Villages, The Bridge of the Dam, Snake Park, Boat Cruises & various establishments of hospitality.

Hiking & mountaineering are also a pastime enjoyed on the surrounding Magaliesberg mountain range whose gorge.
